Hall of Shame
Prescription denials by Medicare Part D health plans continue to lead the pack in overall numbers of complaints:

But the cost of health insurance premiums and uncovered charges are increasing in their representation. Here are a few of the many submissions:
About United Healthcare (California): My initial appeal letters were not read. I received form letter replys that did not address my particular issue in the least. I was almost left with no recourse but to sue until finally a Dispute Rep from Pfizer sent an email to a United HealthCare Supervisor. The Supervisor read my file and my $21K Hospital bill was reduced to $200 within one week. I would have been spared weeks of worry and sleepless nights if the United Appeals Rep would have just read my appeal letter.
I am insured through a Pfizer retiree plan that is self funded. The overseeing board is ERISA which has no power to enforce or resolve disputes. It was an ERISA rep who told me that my oly recouse was to sue. We need some kind of consumer agency that has some enforcement power for self-funded plans. We are left totally without support or recouse but the legal system. My experience was terrifying and I was truly powerless.
About Kaiser (Hawaii): Annual rate hikes. This year a 100 percent increase in co-pay for
prescriptions. Office visit co-pay jumped from $15 to $25. Seniors on
diminishing income, now paying 1/4 to 1/3 of our income for health
insurance.
About Anthem Blue Cross (California):
To be fair: I posted a 'question' with the CA insurance
commissoner. Anthem said my zip code was responsible for their price rise (25%)
this year. My daughter (age 24) went up 40% on no medical activity. They are
melting down.
We agree. The system is melting down. Please help us take action:
